Coastal Elopement at The Sea Ranch

Sylvia and Matt’s wedding at The Sea Ranch Lodge was an intimate family gathering shaped by the landscape around it. With the ceremony held on the rocks overlooking the Northern California coast, the floral design was conceived to feel less placed than discovered—as though it had always belonged among the grasses, wind, and shoreline.

Sylvia’s bouquet brought a quiet sense of tradition into a more contemporary form. Airy and softly structured, it featured thoughtfully selected seasonal blooms with an organic placement inspired by modern Korean floral design. Trailing ribbons in muted yellow and black velvet echoed the detailing of her wedding dress, adding an unexpected contrast to its romantic silhouette.

For the ceremony, Malva + Moss created sculptural ground arrangements using locally sourced coastal wildflowers, grasses, and ferns. Designed as loose botanical bushes rather than a conventional altar, the florals appeared to emerge naturally from the rocky landscape. Their movement responded to the setting—textural, windswept, and intentionally imperfect.

Dinner moved indoors to the lodge’s atrium, where floor-to-ceiling windows framed expansive views of the coast and changing evening light. A single long table was layered with low, airy floral compositions that carried the ceremony landscape into a more refined setting. Premium oncidium orchids, sweet peas, woven grasses, and local wildflowers created delicate movement while preserving generous negative space across the table.

The result was personal and atmospheric: a Sea Ranch elopement where the flowers never competed with the landscape. Instead, they became part of it—wild at the edges, considered in their placement, and quietly sophisticated.

“Alisa understood our vision from the very beginning and created something beyond what we had imagined. The florals felt natural and organic, blending coastal greens, earthy textures, and delicate blooms as if they had grown straight from the cliffs at Sea Ranch. Every detail felt thoughtful and personal. Alisa is incredibly creative, attentive, and an absolute pleasure to work with.”
