Moody Romance at the De Young Museum
Set against the modern architectural backdrop of the De Young Museum, Ellie and Adam’s wedding embraced moody romance and sculptural elegance. They envisioned a celebration that felt deeply personal—where modern form met understated charm—and entrusted us to craft a floral design that moved seamlessly between drama and softness.
The bridal bouquet was designed in close collaboration with the bride, featuring her requested palette of hellebores, garden roses, and ranunculus. The result was a bouquet that felt both exotic and garden-grown—pairing the refined structure of subtly dramatic blooms with the natural ease of a late-season garden.
For the ceremony, two garden-inspired ground installations marked the start of the aisle. Designed with an intentional sculptural flow, these compositions gave the illusion of untamed growth emerging organically from the earth—dynamic, natural, and quietly commanding.
The reception tables were composed as dynamic still-life scenes. Rectangular banquet tables featured a combination of Ikebana-inspired floral pieces and clusters of bud vases, interwoven with burgundy and green grapes. The floral palette moved through shades of cream, burgundy, and marsala, softened by delicate white and pink accents, creating a rich, layered atmosphere.
A special collaboration with the mother of the bride—a passionate gardener herself—added an intimate layer to the design process. Together, we shaped a vision that honored their shared love of flowers and resulted in a celebration that felt artful, refined, and deeply connected to both family and place.
“It was an absolute pleasure working with Alisa - her exceptional eye and exceptional design brought so much life, whimsy and love to our wedding day.”
